All patients with
symptoms of hyperglycaemia/insulin deficiency
should have an HbA1c and fasting or random glucose level performed
Polyuria
Polydipsia (increased thirst)
Weight loss
Recurrent fungal, skin or genitourinary infections
Diabetes is diagnosed if either the HbA1c is ≥ 50 mmol/mol, fasting glucose ≥ 7 mmol/L or random glucose ≥ 11.1 mmol/L.
